Monument Conservation
Fall 2025, thanks to the generous support of an anonymous donor, George Taylor's monument received much needed care from Preservation Works.

The team reset the stones surrounding the monument, carefully cleaned the monument using super-heated, low-pressurized water. They treated and scrubbed rust stains, and reset and repointed the monument's foundation. They also repointed between each slab at the base as well as between each slab. They injected a lime and pumice slurry into fine cracks to fill voids. Using a lime-based mortar, they patched and covered cracks. They reformed missing ornaments such as the coat of arms, dentals and eagle. They also built up the ground around the monument to once again cover the foundation stones.
