Easton Cemetery, Historic Easton Cemetery, 401 N 7th St, Easton, PA 18042, USA
About the event
As with the gravestones in many older cemeteries, the monuments are deteriorating. Some require extensive and expensive restoration, but many gravestones would benefit from careful, specialized cleaning. Join our crew of trained grave cleaning volunteers to work on this important project. The intent is not to make a grave marker look "new," but rather keep it from deteriorating and preventing further damage.
Class is limited to 25 students. Each participant will receive hands on instruction during the two-hour workshop, printed instructions, and a cleaning kit which you can leave or keep. After completing the workshop, you will receive an ID card which will permit you to clean gravestones in the future. Details about future gravestone cleaning will be discussed at the workshop!
Important notes:Â
- Weather: class is rain or shine, in fact rain is encouraged.
- Physical requirements: the workshop is about a half-mile walk in, and will be physical in nature (standing, bending, scrubbing, picking up buckets of cleaner and water).
- Water is an important part of the cleaning process! If you are able to bring 2 gallons of water with you (in cleaned out containers) that would be a great help.
